From the recording Hope It Grows
Once again, the influence of Alberty Brumley hit me one morning as I was driving down the road. I looked over and noticed the sunrise glowing off of the dude in the grass. Songs come from the funniest places sometimes. This one pretty much fell out on my way home, and is simply about being humble and thankful to the man upstairs.

Hang My Head

VERSE 1
Have you seen the face of God
Shinin’ in the early morn’
Have you seen the sun come up
O’er the green
I have once witnessed it
Now I stand in the riverbed
Lord, let that flood water flow
And wash me clean
CHORUS
Hang me head down today
Not in vein but to lift His name
I’m just a man but I try
To walk the Word
I have felt the Father’s love
Flowing down from up above
That’s why I get down on my knees
And Hang My Head
VERSE 2
The day I die’s when I’ll awake
And take my walk to the Pearly Gates
Old Saint Peter will await me by and by
I hope and pray he let’s me in
After my walk in this world of sin
I’ll keep on livin and until then
I’ll Hang My Head
CHORUS
Hang me head down today
Not in vein but to lift His name
I’m just a man but I try
To walk the Word
I have felt the Father’s love
Flowing down from up above
That’s why I get down on my knees
And Hang My Head
